I am SUCH a bad housewife! LOL in all seriousness... we had no clean bowls b/c I loaded the dishwasher wrong the other day and they didn't get clean, then we used more so they were ALL dirty. We have no food... ok that's a lie. Our pantry is technically full but its all stuff you need other stuff in order to make it... like milk, eggs, hamburger meat, chicken, something like that. So I guess you could say our fridge/freezer is empty.
And there was another reason... something that happened earlier but now I can't remember what it was lol.
Anyways...
Yay for a 4-day weekend! Happy President's Day!
We finally went to the aquarium! I've wanted to go since I found out how awful the Louisville Zoo "aquarium" was :D The drive was a bit much- and riding in my car (as opposed to driving) is awful. Never again will I volunteer to drive as long as I have that car. I didn't realize how tiny and cramped it was. So, after 2 1/2 hrs of driving we made it to Newport.
The city you see is actually Cincinnati but its actually across the river. We took the next exit after this shot and landed in shady, shady Newport. Once we got to where we were going, the aquarium is actually in a really nice area with a movie theater, restaurants, comedy club, mall type thing.
They had all your normal fishes and such and a HUGE alligator they call Mighty Mike. They even had a "rainforest" with birds that you could feed... half of them were outside the net in a different part of the room they should not have been in so I'm not sure why they even bothered to net it off. I really liked the Giant Octopus they had too- s/he was pretty neat to watch. But the real reason I wanted to go to the aquarium was to see...
....THE SHARKRAY!
How awesome is that?! You can't tell me that's not the coolest thing you've ever seen at the aquarium.
The Newport Aquarium was the first in the western hemisphere to have one and now they have a male and a female. I'm at a loss for words. They're just so cool lol.
I picked up a volunteer application while I was there. Divers are required to commit to one full day a month. I know its 2 1/2 hrs away but I can do that once a month. I have to renew my CPR/First Aid certification and take a dive refresher course first and then I can submit my app. Soooo exciting!
There is one little shark in the tank that has taken a liking to one particular volunteer. His name is Lil Dude and he'll lay on the gravel in front of the volunteer and likes her to pour gravel on his head and over her back. It was quite amusing to watch. She sat there for at least 20 minutes just pouring gravel over him.
After the aquarium we went to the movies- because why not? There was a theater right there, we were planning on seeing Just Go With It this weekend anyways and that theater was WAY nicer than the one here in Elizabethtown.
So, we get out of the movie and I have a text from my dad and an email from my mom both asking the same thing... "Did you know anything about Jake having orders for Afghanistan?" WHAT?! I started crying right there in the movie theater. I texted my dad back "No...?!" and he called me to explain... Apparently my brother received orders over a month ago. But, this weekend he had to report to Dallas. They tested out his knee (old injury) and determined that he was not fit for duty. So now he is being discharged from the Navy because of it. Long story short, Mom is happy/grateful and Jake is pissed. I'm jsut gonna keep my mouth shut on the issue because I have all kinds of thoughts running through my head on the issue.
Today was much less stressful. :) AND we still have two more days left this weekend! Yay! I love having Mickey home.
Hope you watched the video of the sharkray above because they're pretty much BAMFs.
Oh! And don't forget to feed my fish at the bottom of the page!
Thanks :D
