Debate Thoughts

Because I'm watching the debate ('Merica!) and already bored I'm going to make a list of thoughts that cross my mind while watching.

  • What is that black spot on Romney's flag pin?
  • I would be drunk already if I had to drink everytime someone said "trillion"
  • So glad they're talking in whole numbers "5 trillion, 3 trillion"... makes it easier to do the math.
  • My foot itches.
  • Twitter must be blowing up because I can't do a single thing with it.
  • I'm writing in Kevin Kalra for President.
  • That spot on his flag pin is driving me crazy... he HAS to know its there so WHAT IS IT?!
  • They're eyes must be burning trying not to blink so much.
  • I prefer the red tie.
  • Obama just said something I agree with... imagine that.
  • Lets talk about social security!
  • So much for time limits.... or a moderator for that matter.
  • DONT INTERUPT!
  • I don't think saying "I have no idea what you're talking about" is a good thing to say in a debate
  • I think its time to move on to a more focused moderator
  • I did not think bringing up your anniversary was romantic. I think it sounded more like "I have other things I could be doing besides speaking to you people"
  • I wish I understood more about politics for a couple reasons: 1) so I knew what the heck they're talking about and 2) so I could call BS when they're wrong b/c right now I have no idea.
  • Romney: "If you're sixty or older you dont have to listen any further." Obama: "If you're 55 or 56, you should listen up"- I'm not concerned with medicare in the next 4 years- what about my generation?!
  • Someone just said the "spot" is a gold star. I don't see it.
  • I've seen 2 different drinking games on Facebook... and we have no beer :/
  • Private insurance > government insurance
  • "I had 5 seconds before you interupted me" ... so you get to talk another minute?!
  • I've decided for the rest of the week, anytime someone asks me a question, I'm going to take longer than 2 minutes of their time to not answer the question they asked.
  • Tiberius has been super hungry the past couple days. Maybe he's going through a growth spurt *crosses fingers*
  • People need to stop updating their fb status every two minutes. That's what twitter is for.
  • Half Marathon in March- yes or no?
  • Totally not paying attention to the debate... trying a bit less.
  • Romney just mentioned God! On national television. As much as it sucks, he just lost a bunch of votes. But on the same token, he probably just gained some as well.
  • So... everytime Obama says Romney is going to do this or that, Romney comes back and says you're wrong. So... did Obama just not pay attention/misunderstand, or is Romney changing his stance?
  • "We only have 3 minutes left" ... so I'm going to spend all of it stuttering and saying "3 minutes left" so that you don't have any more time to talk...
  • Oh thank goodness its over. I'll pay attention more on the next one. For sure. Maybe.
  • Total lack of respect for the moderator. I hope they get a more assertive person for the next one.
  • "End Scene"
  • Bahaha when they shake hands in my head I picture them saying all kinds of rude stuff to each other and cursing with smiles on their faces
  • What is the age range of Romney's kids?
  • So... who won?

Football season is here! And the pumpkin spice latte/frapp is back at Starbucks!
Now if only it would cool off a bit.

::sigh:: that is all. I can't wait for full blown "Autumn" (we do live in Texas after all) :D

Cheers!

Faith in His timing.

God is good!
Other than that, I'm at a loss for words.

God has three answers for our prayers:
1) Yes
2) Not now
3) I have something better in mind.

For a while there I thought it might've been answer 3. As heartbreaking as it was, I never stopped praying. Now that I realize the answer was actually number 2, I can't stop smiling.

I cried a happy cry yesterday. My last happy cry was at my wedding. I cried that same happy cry today. And probably will a couple more times. But, that doesn't mean I've stopped praying.

It was nice to find myself randomly smiling throughout the day. To enjoy the drive home from work and the feeling of the sun on my face- Its amazing how something so small (and so HUGE!) can change everything. I can only begin to imagine what it feels like to wait so long and finally receive His blessing.

I just have to remember that having faith in God means having faith in His timing.

I will pray for continued blessings everyday and thank him for the blessings he's already given.

Summer is here...

Wow. Its been quite a while. Usually when I go a bit of time without posting its b/c I've forgotten or just been too busy. Neither is the case this time. I check the blog quite frequently to read y'all's posts and I wouldn't say I've been too busy... more like uninteresting.

I read back through a couple of my last posts... finished that office I was talking about.
Here's a pic since I didn't post one sooner...
All four walls are painted like that. I still need to go back and do some touchups but frankly I was all painted out when I finished.

Tiberius is still growing. He's about 100lbs now. We've had a few health problems with him lately. He was whining and limping for about a week a couple months back. I thought it was his paw but the vet said it was his shoulder. We're not sure how he hurt it but it probably didn't take much since he injured it when he fell in the pool when he was little... Anyways, now he's on joint pills. Arthritis medicine of sorts. Being a Dane we knew he'd have to take them eventually but I was thinking more along the lines of 2 years old... not 6 months old :(
Then he was sick for a weekend. Cleaning up diarhea from a 90lb dog first thing in the morning and first thing home from work is no party. That was some kind of stomach bug that passed after about 4 days.

He seems to be doing alright now. Eating a healthy 6-8 cups a day. We need to get some carpet or non-slip rugs for him. He likes to run around and the wood floors we have throughout the house aren't helping his joint problems any as he slips.

I started working at Largo. I think I mentioned the interview in my last post? Been there 4 months now. Its no dream job but I like it. I like (most of) the people and it makes the work day go by fast. Still hoping to go back to school someday in the not-to-distant future.
My nephew Cooper turned 1 and is just as adorable as always.

And then there's Carlee. Sweet baby Carlee Grace was born March 29. I got to be there to see her make her entrance into the world. She stayed in the hospital for the first month of her life- ended up coming home just a couple days after her actual due date. She's still on a monitor for her apnea but doing much better.

Jody and Braelynn stayed with us this weekend. Jody was the best man in our wedding and comes to town once a month to see his daughter Braelynn. Its always eventful around here when they come to town :)

Other than that life is pretty simple around here. Just trying to get the pool to turn back to blue so we can enjoy it this summer :)

Hope this post finds you well.

Pictures

Amy took these pictures back in December. I love them. :)
When I went to pick them up from Walgreens the envelope said that they needed a copyright release (b/c Amy is just that awesome!)

I feel compelled to update but I also feel as though I have nothing to say.

I'm painting our office. Right now it looks like crap but hopefully it will even out with a few more layers of paint. Its going to maroon and gray (grey?) and all around awesome. I'll post before, during and after pictures when its all done. I painted the bathroom as well but it looks pretty much the same for now. After I finish changing out hardware and adding some more touchups I'll post pictures of that one as well.

Mickey started school today. I'm super proud of him. At least one of us will have a relevant degree. I almost don't even want to hang mine on the wall. It has to be the most expensive, nearly useless piece of paper I own. I'm sure I can find a nice picture of us to put in the super expensive frame I had specially made for it. I'd like to go back- get a degree I can use. One that will get me a job rather than costing me one. Maybe one day.... after Mickey graduates, we travel the world, and have kids... you know, the usual...

I have an interview at a staffing agency in the morning. Scored pretty well on my tests. 82 wpm and 12120 keystrokes per hour. I could've done better but I'm super nervous about job interviews that my hands got all clammy and stuck to the keyboard :/
My Microsoft Word and Excel tests couldve gone better. Except when they ask you a question they block certain features (that I use) and I didn't know how to do it their way. Or they ask a question about a feature I only used in high school when I was taking a computer class (Mail merge or Macro anyone?!)
Anyways, we'll see how it goes after tomorrow. The last staffing place never even called me back. Lame. I'm cautiously optimistic about this one.

Tiberius weighed in at 51.2 lbs at his last vet visit on the 7th- 10 days ago. Which means he weighs at least 56 lbs now... probably closer to 60.
He knows "sit" and "drop it." And, when he's in a willing mood "come" and "get in bed." He's still pretending he doesn't know "down" or "off" in reference to the couch. For the most part we let him up there but when I say down its time to get down dadgummit.
He's been to the dog park twice, both successful trips. I haven't braved the crowded Saturday morning park visit with him yet. Jenn and Ellie met us at the dog park this last time. It was nice for us to have someone to play with :)
Ellie and Tiberius listened so well. He wasn't quite as worn out as I would've preferred. Maybe next time we'll have to make it a 2 hr trip instead of just 1.
He's eating 7 cups a day now so any donations for dog food will gladly be accepted! ;)

Still volunteering at the zoo. 4 hours a month really isn't that much but I am finding it a bit far to drive. :/
The whole point of doing it was so that I could be a keeper aide. They're in need right now but I'm scared to sign up for it and then end up not being able to keep my committments b/c of a job. Of course now that I've said that I'll never get a job....

Such is life.

Off to paint a second coat of maroon in the office.... Good night.

Happy Birthday Jesus!

I hate that I hate Christmas.

Christmas is supposed to be about the birth of our Savior and for me it hasn't been in a long time. Growing up all my friends thought it was cool that I got to have 2 Christmases because my parents were divorced and, when I was little, I guess I agreed. But when I became an adult and the Christmas schedule was no longer decided for me it became a pain.

This Christmas season was short and quick thanks to our cruise at the beginning of December. I forgot it was even December, much less almost Christmas, for an entire week! Before I knew it Christmas was here and gone. Now that its all over it feels like nothing more than an exhausting weekend.

Don't get me wrong- I LOVE seeing all of my family and having a full weekend of big home cooked meals. And I like shopping for most of my family... if I can find a present that is unique to someone that I know they'll love then I feel good. Its all the traveling and having to be a seven places at once and cutting visits short with people and not being able to actually spend the time and give people the attention they deserve that I hate most. I feel like I'm being pulled in a million different directions for something that's not even about me. We didn't even have time for church, for the one that mattered most this holiday season.

Next year will be different. We'll still see all of our family but it may only be once instead of three times like we saw some people this year. And we're going to go to church. Not just on Christmas, but every weekend. And not because it's Jesus's birthday but because I miss having the relationship I once had with Him. Its not about anyone else except me and Mickey and God being the center of our marriage.

This year I'm gonna work on Me. And Us. And less on You.
