I am a Lousy Housewife.

I really hope there is a learning curve to this whole housewife ordeal because I'm not doing so great. Mickey, of course, would beg to differ but that's because he is an AMAZING husband- hands down.

I had a breakdown this week. Completely unnecessary and a bit of an overreaction now that I look back at it but at the time its just what I needed. Our house was a wreck- sink full of dishes, piles of (clean!) laundry in baskets that needed to be folded/hung and put away, a dirty dog, and a completely dirty house. It's not that I felt everything was out of my control- just the opposite in fact. It was definitely within my control and therefore all my fault the house was a disaster. I shouldn't have let it get as bad as it did. I broke down crying- complete meltdown mode.

As I type this I feel like a complete moron. I sound like such a child- crying over a dirty house when all I had to do was pull my head out and get to work. But you know what, everybody needs to have a meltdown once in a while. After I was done crying I felt a million times better and got to work. (Mickey folded all the laundry for me as well- I love him!)

Today I cleaned the ENTIRE house from the bottom up. Both bathrooms were cleaned, dishes all washed (I still need to put them away), counters cleaned, floor swept and mopped, living room dusted, carpet deoderized and vacuummed, all the laundry put away, cleaned off my dresser, dusted the bedroom, made the bed, organized the office, all that's left is to vacuum the upstairs and I'll be done!

Gracie, of course, still needs a bath. Some days I think that dog will be the death of me. She contstantly stinks and in turn makes the house smell. I'm terrified to have anyone over because I dont know if its just me smelling it or if my house really does smell that bad. And if that's the case- do my clothes smell like that when I go to work?!

I love her to death and I bawled like a baby the day she had a stroke and I thought she'd died but a lot of days I don't know how much longer we can keep her around. She's very well behaved- for the most part. She's house trained but if you upset her or leave her alone she'll go in the house. I think she does it just to piss me off. I blame her for my breakdown this week too. She HATES the thunder. She whines and paces if she's not in her kennel. If she is in her kennel she'll scratch at the floor. Either way- nobody is sleeping.

We had thunderstorms for 3 straight weeks. SO glad to be able to say "had." Its supposed to rain a little bit tonight but you have no idea how much better it feels to have a day of sunshine and open windows again. That much time of constant thunderstorms, tornado warnings, hail, and strong winds can drive anyone crazy. Being from Texas I never knew the real meaning of "April Showers" until I moved here. And let me tell you, I am definitely ready for those May flowers and some warm sunshine.

This is my last full week at The Gap. Next Monday I'll start my new job at Bluegrass. Looking forward to changes and having a set schedule again. Mickey starts up with a new troop this week as well- mostly a normal schedule for him too. I can't wait to have dinners and sleep with my husband again- its been a very lonely few weeks.

Hoping I'll learn how to be a better wife and still be able to keep house with the new full time job. I know its possible- I just have to get in the groove of things and figure it out. I'm sure by the time that happens we'll be moving again. But, everyday with Mickey is a blessing and I look forward to figuring this life out with him.
